Why should I clean my carpets professionally?
There are many pollutants in your home, one of the biggest is your own skin! We actually shed 600,000 particles of skin every hour. Your carpet may appear to be clean but there are particulates and bacteria growth. The #1 reason to clean your carpet is health.
How often do I need my carpet cleaned?
Many sources, such as the EPA, the Carpet and Rug Institute and the IICRC recommend cleaning approximately every 12 months for residential carpet. Most carpet manufacturer warranties require hot water extraction at least every 24 months or your warranty will be void.
How often should we apply protector?
According to most manufacturers, by your carpets second year, it will lose 30% of its stain resistance and it should be reapplied every 12 to 24 months.
Why shouldn’t I buy a portable carpet shampooer and do it myself?
A portable carpet cleaning machine is great for spot cleaning ONLY. For over all cleaning you don’t want to use this proccess. A portable, has a vacuum cleaner moter. Our machine has a Nissan four cylinder pick up truck engine. It’s like comparing a gerbal to a clydsdel Horse. Your carpet will collect polutants that stick to the fibers and can’t be removed by general vacuuming. They need to be flushed out by hot water extraction. If you use a portable, all your doing is spreading the pollutants around making a toxic soup. Carpet cleaning is more than just clean carpet, you want healthy carpet. We hot water extract at 230 degrees boiling is 212 degrees. This is a sanitizing proccess, removing the pollunts and resetting the heat set memory in your carpet fibers. This brings the carpet back to it’s original.
How much skin do people actually shed?
Humans shed about 600,000 particles of skin every hour – about 1.5 pounds a year. By 70 years of age, an average person will have lost 105 pounds of skin. http://www.bitoffun.com/fun_facts_human.
What about dry cleaning?
The dry cleaning method spreads a moist, absorbent powder through the carpet. The powder is allowed to dry and then sucked into a vacuum. This method leaves dry sponge particles at the base of the carpet yarn. It is known to leave a sticky residue on the carpet because it is not properly rinsed.
Which carpet cleaning method is best?
Most carpet manufacturers suggest hot water extraction with a truck-mounted unit performed by an IICRC certified firm. Carpet warranties usually require hot water extraction at least every 24 months. When performed properly, hot water extraction will remove more soil and spots. It will also sanitize the carpet, whereas other methods have no capability of removing contaminants (such as pollen, pesticides, detergents, exhaust, etc.) The system we have does not over wet the carpet or leave a sticky residue. We invest in only the best equipment available. Our truck-mounted units are equipped with a 4 cylinder engine for maximum efficiency.
How soon can I walk on it?
Keep pets, children and regular traffic off of carpet for a period of 4 to 6 hours. The homeowner may use the carpet lightly immediately after cleaning by wearing white socks. Wait 24 hours before removing Styrofoam blocks and foil tabs that are put in place to protect the furniture and carpet. Some carpet may still feel damp for up to 18 hours depending on carpet soiling condition and the air flow in the room. This is normal and will not cause problems.
